The height or altitude of a pyramid is the distance from the apex to the base of a pyramid. It is the shortest line segment between the apex of a pyramid and the (possibly extended) base. Height can also be used to refer to the specific length of this segment. The height of a pyramid is illustrated in the diagram below.
