Centi (c) Unit Definition
Centi is a SI unit prefix in the metric system denoting a factor of one hundredth. Proposed in 1793 and adopted in 1795, the prefix comes from the Latin term centum, meaning hundred. Since 1960, the prefix is part of the International System of Units (SI). It is represented by the prefix centi or the symbol c.
Overview
It is mainly used in combination with meter (m) to form centimeter (cm), a common unit of length.
Examples
A honey bee is about 1.3 centimeters long.
1 meter (m) = 100 centimeters (cm)
1 liters (L) = 100 centiliters (cL)
1 gram (g) = 100 centigrams (cg)
