Absolute Value Calculator
Overview
Determine the absolute value of a given positive or negative number.
What is Absolute Value
Absolute value is the distance of a number from zero, whether it is a positive or negative number. The sign + or - in front of a number has no bearing on the absolute value as it is simply the size of the value from zero.
In practical terms absolute value can be thought as the distance of the number from zero on a number line.
Examples
The absolute value of 8 is 8 => |8| = 8.
The absolute value of -8 is also 8 => |-8| = 8.
Finally, the absolute value of 0 is 0 => |0| = 0.
